AN important meeting between North Petherton Town Council and Network Rail has been postponed due to flooding.

The town council was urging people to attend a meeting tonight (January 27) to consult with residents about the 22-week closure of the Huntworth Railway bridge.

But Network Rail confirmed today the meeting, set to take place at Moorland Village Hall, has been postponed by the council.

A spokesman said: “Unfortunately, the event has been cancelled owing to the floods. We are currently reviewing the next appropriate time and will inform the residents as soon as that has been set up.”

The closure of the road bridge will mean residents of Moorland and Fordgate will be faced with a massive round trip in order to get to North Petherton or Bridgwater.
