FIVE suspected drug dealers were arrested during a police raid at a property in Holway.

The men - two from Taunton and three from London - were arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs after officers discovered what is thought to be cocaine worth "several thousands" of pounds.

The warrant, which was the latest in a series of activities carried out as part of an investigation into suspected drug dealing in Somerset, also uncovered what is believed to be cannabis.

Police have said both the powder and suspected cannabis have been sent for forensic testing.

Sgt Scott Minall, from the West Somerset Proactive Priority Crime team, said: "We executed that warrant as part of an on-going investigation regarding drug supply in Somerset.

"We want to thank the public who have supplied us with significant information. Please keep coming forward. We want to tackle the issues that matter to our communities."

Ch Insp Paul Mogg, who oversees the Somerset West policing area, said: "I want this to send a clear message, we will not tolerate drug dealing in Somerset whether you are resident or visiting.

"Drug dealing exploits vulnerable people and is a factor in anti-social behaviour and other types of crime such as theft which is committed often to help fund a drug habit.

"Our communities are clearly saying no and we will support them by carrying out these investigations, working closely with colleagues across the country to disrupt drugs supply chains and by undertaking intrusive activities when we suspect drug crime is happening."
