TAUNTON School says it is leading the way by developing links to the rest of the world after welcoming a VIP from Canada.

Allison Goodings, education delegate from the High Commission of Canada, spent a day at the school to discuss further education opportunities for students in her country.

She held talks with figures including headmaster, Dr John Newton, and head of careers, David Hawkins, and addressed a meeting of careers advisers from across the South-West.

Afterwards, Mr Hawkins said: “While other schools start to catch on to the fact that the United States is a good option for some students, Taunton School continues to lead the way in developing links in other areas of the world.

“The Canadian university system represents a very good option for students to consider.

“I am delighted to be working so closely with the Canadian High Commission as they seek to promote their universities here in the UK for the benefit of students at Taunton School and across the South-West.”

Taunton School is staging a presentation evening from a consortium of Dutch universities on February 27, led by University College Utrecht.

They will give a presentation about higher education in the Netherlands before conducting a ‘marketplace’ event, enabling students and parents to find out about their options to study at Dutch universities.

Taunton School’s annual USA Universities Fair takes place on May 6.
