MEMBERSHIP of Somerset’s credit union is booming as the organisation fast becomes a strong alternative to payday loan companies and doorstep sellers.

That’s according to Somerset Savings and Loans president Don Davies, who says credit unions across the UK will attract ever-increasing numbers of customers.

He said: “We are celebrating our tenth anniversary this year and have established ourselves as a viable alternative to the payday and doorstep lenders who prey on the have-nots in our communities.”

The credit union will hold its annual meeting on Weston-super-Mare’s Grand Pier from 2pm on Saturday February 8.
