A LITTLE girl who has already been diagnosed with cancer THREE times has suffered a further setback.

Kelsey Petty, two, has been told by doctors twice that she has a cancerous tumour in her right kidney, another in her left kidney along with problems with part of the bone in her right arm which is missing.

The latest setback for Kelsey and her mum Miranda, 26, of Hamilton Road, Taunton, are bowel problems which the family are waiting to find answers for.

She said: “Kelsey just thinks all this is part of everyday life because she doesn’t know any different and that helps me out in a way.

“She is a strong girl and she still goes to nursery for two half days a week which is brilliant and she loves it.

“We are in limbo at the money while we wait for tests but we need to get to the bottom of it all - there is still light at the end of the tunnel.”

Alongside ploughing her energy into looking after her daughter, Miranda has already raised £10,500 for the children’s unit at Musgrove Park Hospital and charity CLIC Sargent, who are both supporting Kelsey.

She said her aim is to raise £17,000 for the hospital, based in Taunton, so they can build a sensory room.

She added: “The sensory room is a place where carers can take parents away for some respite, sit them down and speak to them in private.

“It is also somewhere for the children to relax and enjoy the different lights and equipment with engage all your senses.”

In a bid to raise extra funds for their charities of choice, Miranda launched Kelsey’s Cancer Fund wristbands and merchandise which a friend, Francesca Dillon, who runs Taunton Tiny Trends in Crown Walk, has on sale in her shop.

Miranda said: “The support from people has been amazing.”

The next event Miranda is running is a Valentines Ball black tie event at Somerset County Cricket Ground on Saturday, February 15 at 7pm. Corin Hughes, who appeared on television show The Voice, will perform live, along with a three course meal, disco, auction and raffle.

Tickets cost £35 each and are available from First Bus Station Travel Shop, Cloud 9 in Wellington, Taunton Tiny Trends or through Miranda who can be contacted on 07568-359142.
