A RISING star of English Cricket will help launch The Bridgwater Way’s boost for New Year resolutions.

The free Resolve 2014 event is taking place at the YMCA in Bridgwater on January 25, from 10am to 1pm.

Opened by Jamie Overton, who plays for Somerset and England, it will showcase ways to improve a person’s health, education and career.

There will be free health checks, advice on healthy eating, cycle simulators and information about jobs clubs.

Jamie, 19, will be joined by the County Cricket Club's mascot, Stumpy. Club staff will be on hand to provide information about the sport and discuss employment opportunities. There will also be a fun cricket-themed game and giveaways.

Councillor Harvey Siggs, Cabinet Member with responsibility for The Bridgwater Way, said: “This event will be full of ideas and good advice. I hope having a bright young cricketing star on hand will encourage plenty of people to come along and see what’s on offer.”

The Bridgwater Way project encourages cycling and walking in the town for work, school and fun. Visit www.thebridgwaterway.co.uk
