HAYGROVE School hockey players have walked away with two County Cup wins.

Both the Year Nine and Year Ten boys were crowned champions at the finals held at Millfield School in late December.

The Year Nine boys faced Castle School, who they beat 7-0 in the qualifying rounds, and while the Castle boys threatened early on, it was a classic reverse stick effort by Haygrove’s Morgan Williams that stunned the Castle defence and beat their goalkeeper to give Haygrove a first half lead.

It was Haygrove all the way after that, and a second half goal clinched them the title.

Huish Episcopi faced the Haygrove Year Ten team in what was an end to end game with chances for both teams, but Haygrove captain and goalkeeper Brad Palmer cleared an attempt on his goal, and at the final whistle it was still a no score draw.

The teams faced a penalty shoot-out but clinical scoring and excellent work from Brad ensured that once again Haygrove School Year Tens are County Champions.
