A CLASSIC community cinema is being launched at the Robert Blake and Elmwood site.

Futures for Somerset (FfS) and Bridgwater YMCA, with local partners, are behind the project.

It seeks to bring together people who live in sheltered accommodation and residential care and the local community.

People will be able to watch a classic film within the main hall at Robert Blake and Elmwood while, also having access to a range of different agencies who would be present on the day to share important information.

Marie Cornish, business administration assistant for Futures for Somerset, said: “By bringing the community together, we are looking to tackle social isolation and provide an enjoyable, affordable opportunity for all to enjoy.

“Some community members can experience social isolation due to issues such as reduced public transport, lack of mobility and loneliness.

“Through bringing the older and wider community together through this project it is anticipated that the feeling of social isolation will become reduced and there will be a positive impact on health and wellbeing.”

FfS have launched an online survey, with other formats are available on request, to find out what people think of the project - visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TNHTQVB
