WITNESSES are sought to an attempted robbery in Yeovil last week.

The robbery occurred at 9.10pm on Friday (January 10) as the victim, a 16-year-old woman, walked home along Freedom Avenue.

Someone came up behind the victim and tried to steal her mobile phone. She resisted and was pushed to the ground by the offender who ran off towards Stiby Road.

The victim's Samsung Galaxy phone was damaged during the incident.

The incident was reported to police and an investigation has begun to identify the person responsible.

The suspect is described as male, 5'10" tall and with a muscular build. He was wearing a black hooded top, black trousers with two white stripes running down the sides and black gloves.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, saw someone suspicious in the area at that time or recognises the description of the suspect should contact Avon and Somerset Police on 101 and quote 3411/14.

Alternatively, phone the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. They never ask your name or trace your call.
