THE owners of a 15th Century thatched country pub say they are not going anywhere just yet despite the building being put on the housing market.

The Farmers Arms in Combe Florey has been run by mother and daughter Maggie Riley and Patricia Vincent for 12 years.

Maggie told the County Gazette they are not looking to move yet, but have one eye on retiring in the near future.

She said: “We’re putting a few feelers out and lying low at the moment.

“If someone came along and offered us what we wanted for it then we’d take it, but we’re not moving as yet.

“If it does happen we’ll make sure everyone knows.”

The Grade II listed pub is in the Good Pub Guide 2014, the Good Beer Guide 2014 and the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2014, and the family also won the Great British Pubs Cellar of the Year Award for 2013.

This is The West Country:

Stonesmith estate agents in Exeter are dealing with the sale – the pub is listed at a guide price of £695,000.

Mike Phillips, of the agents, said: “The sale of the Farmers Arms represents an excellent opportunity to purchase a well established and stunning high turnover business with excellent levels of profits in an extremely desirable area, and internal viewing is highly recommended.”
