THERE will be another opportunity to speak as part of an appeal against Sedgemoor District Council’s refusal of plans for a wind farm near Burnham tomorrow.

Broadview Energy appealed to the Planning Inspectorate after the council blocked its plans for four 130m turbines at Pilrow Farm near Rooksbridge in April 2013.

A planning inquiry is underway and the inspector running it has organised a session for the public who have not already given their views - but residents must register to speak.

The public session will be held at East Huntspill Village Hall on Tuesday (January 14) at 7.30pm.

Campaign group NoPilrow, which is fighting the plans, has been encouraging people to attend some or all of the eight-day inquiry to demonstrate the amount of public interest in the scheme.

A spokesman from NoPilrow said: “Mrs Pat Ireland (founder of the Lights for Life charity) whose husband was killed on the A38 at Rooksbridge will be giving evidence early in the evening session.

“This stretch of A38 is designated by the Appellant as the route for transporting aggregate and hence will see an increase in HGV movements.”

If anyone wishes to speak, please contact Colin Arnold or Chris Gomm on 0845 4082540.

The planning inspector will review the evidence, including witness statements, before reporting to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Eric Pickles, for a final decision.
