PEOPLE who volunteer for charity stay fitter and cope better with illness, according to a review commissioned by Volunteering England.

Geoff Cummins, chief executive of Somerset-based children’s charity bibic, said: “While it’s common knowledge that volunteers do a world of good for charities and the communities they serve, increasingly people are realising that helping out can also bring many benefits for themselves.”
