EVERLY Brothers tribute duo Clint and Stan Rogers will cut out the jokes at a pub performance tomorrow (January 10).

The siblings, who live in the Taunton area, will dedicate their act to Phil Everly, who died last week aged 74.

BBC Points West reporter Clint and Stan, who works at the UK Hydrographic Office in Taunton, put in hours of practice before forming Cleverly Everly.

They have already played a number of gigs, but their appearance at Cannington’s Friendly Spirit pub will be the first since Phil’s death.

“The Everlys had a unique sound, and had a great influence on music in the 1950s and ’60s,” said Clint, who used to be a reporter with the County Gazette.

“We’ve tried to copy them as best we can, but it’s not easy.

“We’ve been massively surprised and impressed by how popular it has been and it just goes to show how long-lasting their music is.

“We’ll change things slightly to reflect the fact that Phil Everly isn’t here any more – there’s an element of comedy in what we do, but we’ll drop that because it wouldn’t be appropriate.”
