DO you love to draw, design and doodle?

Well, now is your chance to show off your skills and have your work permanently displayed for all to see at Butlin’s in Minehead.

To celebrate the opening of their new traditional fairground in Minehead, Butlin’s are giving people the chance to design one of the dodgem cars to be a permanent fixture at the Somerset resort.

Fans of Butlin’s on Facebook will choose a winner from a shortlist of entries and it will then be made into a real dodgem car.

The winner will get to visit the new fairground with their family on a three-night break in the spring.

Opening at Easter, the fairground will be based on the traditional seaside fairgrounds.

There will be a helter skelter, carousel, waltzers, a chair-o-plane and many more fun rides.

Sir Billy Butlin was the first person to bring the dodgems to the UK back in 1936 and Butlin’s are keeping the spirit of this alive in their new development.

Sir Billy was, by trade, a fairground showman so the new fair will be designed around the nostalgic fairgrounds of his time, with candy floss stalls and traditional rides.

There is even a new World of Wonders Sideshow venue, showing traditional sideshows with a modern twist.

The fairground development comes ahead of a £16 million chalet accommodation development opening in spring 2015.

Butlin’s also plans to submit a planning application to West Somerset Council to build a £20 million resort hotel to replace some of the older existing accommodation.

If plans are given the goahead, the new hotel could create up to 100 new jobs and it is hoped to be open by the summer of 2016.
