X Factor winner Matt Cardle's Bridgwater concert, set for Saturday, has been postponed until further notice.

The acoustic singer-songwriter, who won ITV talent series The X Factor in 2010, was due to come to Bridgwater's Blake Hall, but is reportedly undergoing treatment at The Priory for addiction to temazepam and Valium.

His management has said the singer is now "focussing on getting better", and will release an official statement in due course.

Tweeting to fans on New Year's Eve, the singer posted: "I want to thank my fans for all your lovely messages of support... I'm getting myself better... I want to be ready to give it 110 per cent on tour next year. I love you all and will see you the other side."

Posting on Facebook, Dan Smith, director of SRL Promotions, who organised the concert, wrote: "We wish Matt well and hope you all stick with us for the replacement date to be announced shortly. Your support is truly appreciated.

"I've been speaking to him, and he's on the mend, and he definitely wants to do the show. Due to us being let down a couple of times now he's really desperate to do the show.

"He really wants to prove a point to people that he's back to where he should be."
