WITNESSES are being sought to an attempted robbery on the footpath that runs along Bridgwater’s River Parrett.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was walking along the footpath which runs between Valetta Place and Chidgey Close at around 5pm on December 17 when he was approached by a man on a bike.

The man threatened the victim and demanded property, but was then pushed off his bike and was last seen cycling off towards Chidgey Close.

A police spokesman said: “An investigation into the attempted robbery has begun and we would like to hear from anyone who might have seen the incident or someone acting suspiciously in the area at the time.

“The offender was in his early 20s, 5'9" tall with a very slight build and busy eyebrows.

“He was wearing a dark puffer-type jacket, light-coloured hooded top with the hood worn up over a dark coloured baseball cap, dark coloured scarf worn over his lower face and white trainers.

“The bicycle he was riding was a silver bike with front suspension.”
