BRIDGWATER College has launched a golf programme that aims to engage students who aspire to a career in the golfing world, as a coach, administrator or player.

The college is the only college in the south-west to offer the bespoke Coaching, Organisation and Performing in Golf Level 2 Diploma for 16-18-year-olds, which combines golfing performance with academic study.

It will be run at the college’s own golf course based at the Cannington centre.

Jason Gunningham, section leader for sport said: “The course enables students to learn about being a professional golf coach and provides a platform from which students can be equipped to work within the golfing industry whilst developing their golf performance at the same time.

"Each student will be part of Team BC Golf and will have the opportunity to combine their studies with training, practising and playing golf every day.

"Students will gain support from key partners and organisations involved in the development and delivery of golf across the county and region.”
