A CRAFTY gran from Bridgwater has been signed up by a new online boutique showcasing the best of West Country products.

Chris Fisher is joining some of the region’s top craftsmen, illustrators, artists, producers and makers to show off her items on the Bridgwater-based Elsie & Fleur website.

The mum of three, who designs cross-stitch patterns and makes kits, said: “I’m really excited about being part of the website.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to get my kits out there and I think the idea of bringing West Country crafters together is brilliant.”

Chris can remember learning to knit at school, and was in the Brownies and Guides, which both have a crafting and ‘make do’ ethos.

She said: “I enjoy designing cross-stitch patterns and creating designs I like to stitch, but nothing too big or too complicated.

“I think it’s better to get the satisfaction from a smaller finished item rather than have a large, half- finished kit in the cupboard.”

In her spare time Chris enjoys looking after her two grandchildren.

Rachel Doran, director of Elsie & Fleur, said: “We’re delighted to be stocking Chris’ kits.

“Elsie & Fleur was born out of a desire for people to be able to buy items which are often unique, but don’t carry a hefty price tag.

“All the products are being sold to support micro-businesses run by kitchen table entrepreneurs and ‘mumpreneurs’.”

The company has a price ceiling on each product of no more than £40, and all products on www.elsieandfleur.co.uk have been created by artisans in the West Country.
