A TAKEAWAY in Wellington was destroyed in a serious fire...just weeks after it had opened.

Ali's Kebab & Pizza, in North Street, was hit by the late-night blaze, which spread to neighbouring properties and brought down part of the roof.

Arthur Kundelis, from the takeaway, which opened on May 12, said the staff were “absolutely gutted.”

THE parents of former Richard Huish College student Catherine Wells-Burr, who was murdered by her boyfriend and two others, branded her killers 'evil.

The body of 23-year-old Catherine was found in a burning car by the A358 at Ashill, between her home in Chard and Taunton, in September 12.

Boyfriend Rafal Nowak, 31, his former girlfriend Anna Lagwinowicz, 32, of Taunton, and her uncle Tadevsz Dmytryszyn, 38, of Taunton, were convicted of her murder following a lengthy trial at Bristol Crown Court. All three were given life sentences with a minimum term of 32 years.

Catherine's mum Jane said: “Anna and Rafal are both devious, callous, sickening people.

“They should never be allowed out in society again. They can never be corrected inside prison, they are just too evil.”

THOUSANDS of people packed into Taunton town centre for the first SomerFest celebration.

The event featured dozens of activities, sporting and cultural, and two parades of weird and wacky cycle-related vehicles.

Taunton Deane councillor Mark Edwards, who was behind the event, said: “The intention is for the SomerFest to become an annual event.”
