THE Evans family have been feeding families on Christmas since 1947.

They are the longest running farming family of turkeys and geese on Exmoor.

Wilfred Evans, who will be 80 at the end of December, has been working on his family farm, Leeford Farm on Upton, since he was 19.

He followed in his parents’ footsteps and now his children and grandchildren all help out.

Wilfred said: “We’ve sold about 75 turkeys this year for Christmas and plenty of geese and chickens – it’s been brilliant.

“The whole family get involved and my two grandchildren love to help out when they can.

“I keep saying I’ll give up year on year but I keep going.

I wouldn’t be able to do as much if it wasn’t for my grandchildren and children though.”

Photographer Clayton Jane spent two days with the Evans’, also having a go at helping out.

He said: “I worked with Wilfred for two days and I couldn’t keep up.

“There’s a great amount of teamwork here ... it’s great.”
