A RAFFLE held at the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton raised £757 for the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment appeal.

A further £687.95 was raised for the County Gazette-backed SURE campaign to equip the Beacon Centre following a programme of carols and readings at the Minster, Ilminster, by South Somerset Choral Society.

Donations received this week came from Alison Perry and Andrew and Karen Morgan in lieu of sending Christmas cards; £6.10 in 5p coins from the Old Sale Rooms, Wellington; £23.58 from the Hungry Horse, Stonegallows; £16.73 from the Tea Bar, at the Beacon Centre; £10.67 from the One Stop Shop, Galmington; £56.25 from the Esso Garage, Wellington Road; £30 from the Vivary Arms; £5 in 5ps from Brian; £59.70 in 5ps from Minster Health Shop, Ilminster; £40 from John Folk; £50 from Barbara Cross; £100 from Sylvia Woodgate; £10 from R. H. Stiling; £30 from Staplegrove Bowls Club, Short Mat, in lieu of Christmas cards; £150 from Bishops Lydeard Surgery from the sale of scarves, and a donation from Gerald Moore, of Wellington, which included £60 from a raffle held by Holcombe Rogus quilters; £20 in 5ps and money in lieu of Christmas cards.

£142.25 was collected from the Beacon Centre, which included £22 in 5ps from Sally Causley and family and £116.15 in 5ps.

The total this week is £2,175.24 bringing the amount raised since the Gazette linked up with SURE to £386,584.
