THREE people have been charged in connection with a sexual exploitation inquiry, as part of which a home in Chard was raided on Wednesday (December 18).

The investigation centres on Yeovil and began in August, after police received information relating to sexual offences committed in the town.

Enquiries led to four warrants being carried out at homes in Chard and Yeovil and a business premises in Yeovil under the Police and Criminal Evidence (PACE) Act and the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Luke Fuller, 24, of Kingston, Yeovil, has been charged with one count of rape and one count of trafficking persons within the UK for sexual exploitation.

Jon Smillie, 27, of Hathermead Gardens, Yeovil, has been charged with trafficking persons within the UK for sexual exploitation, one count of rape of a girl under 13 and one count of controlling a child aged 13-17 involved in prostitution/pornography.

Eleanor Dollery, 20, of Preston Road, Yeovil, has been charged with conspiracy to rape a woman aged 16 or over and trafficking persons within the UK for sexual exploitation.

All three have been remanded in custody to appear before South Somerset Magistrates’ Court today (December 20).

Three men, aged, 70, 63 and 28, have been released on bail until January.

Senior Investigating Officer Det Ch Insp Phil Jones said: “Since August we have been building up a picture of intelligence surrounding the sexual exploitation of girls and young women in the Yeovil area, resulting in these warrants.

“Our ongoing priority is to support and protect the victims of these offences and to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
