A BARBER who has been in the trade for 65 years has finally hung up his scissors at the age of 80.
Bob Burton, of Bob's Hair Salon in High Street, Bridgwater, began barbering when he was around 14 years old and has been doing it ever since, even when serving in the army.
He has been working at the salon for 50 years and sold it to Tracey Clayton ten years ago. He continued to work there and has been working one day a week.
Tracey said: “He just loves it, but he wants to retire now and spend more time with his family.
“It's a really big achievement to have been doing something for that long and he has built up many loyal customers.
“We threw him a surprise retirement party and he was very emotional and thanked us all.”
Bob enjoyed drinks and a buffet with his friends at the salon and says he is looking forward to going on more holidays and spending more time playing golf.
