BRITAIN'S most outstanding soldier has told how the Duchess of Cornwall ordered a private audience with him at The Sun’s Military Awards.

Camilla is the Royal Colonel of 4 Rifles and wanted to meet her hero — the battalion's Rifleman Josh Dodds, 19, from Taunton.

He was crowned Most Outstanding Soldier at the Millies after taking out a Taliban sniper trying to kill his comrades with a wonder shot from over 700 yards.

He welled up on stage when TV star Holly Willoughby handed him the prestigious gong at the National Maritime Museum, in London.

But he was even more bowled over when Camilla — who handed out an award with Prince Charles — requested to meet him.

He said: "She was talking about her commitment to 4 Rifles and how much of an honour it is to be part of the Rifles herself.

"She told me it was good to see a Rifleman nominated in this award — and she asked me if they want me back at work tomorrow. It's a true honour to meet my Royal Colonel and speak to her.

"About a year ago she sent the whole battalion boxes of royal chocolates — we all had a couple of chocolates from her. We all know she loves the Rifles.

"She's really good — she has a passion for the Rifles."

On receiving his award, modest Josh, who was just 18 and on his first tour of duty when he carried out his heroic act, said: “You just think of doing your job and making sure everyone is safe; you don’t feel scared as it’s a good adrenaline rush!”
