LEN Dyke is well known around Halcon School and so he should be after 20 years of serving as a governor... but now he is retiring.
Not only did Mr Dyke, who lives in Taunton, serve as a governor there, but his two children attended the school and his wife worked there for more than 40 years.
Len, who celebrates his 80th birthday on Boxing Day said: “We’ve had links at the school for over 52 years but although I’m now retired I will still go there for special occasions, they haven’t got rid of me yet.
“I was a governor at Holway School for a number of years before a friend asked me to become a governor at Halcon.
“I have really enjoyed it but I decided it was time to let someone younger have a go.”
Len added that at his final meeting this month everyone thanked him for all his work.
