A CHARITY working to bring individuals with special needs in contact with horses as an alternative form of therapy, has received a welcome cash boost.
Equine therapy, of the kind provided by Horseshoes and Handprints, based in Stocklinch, has been found to be helpful for those with a variety of disorders, ranging from Autism and Asperger’s, to cerebral palsy, Down’s Syndrome and dementia.
It has also helped individuals dealing with emotional and behavioural difficulties, a lack of self-confidence, or problems with communication.
The parent of one of the youngest clients at the Stocklinch centre said: “To hear my autistic son say ‘Mum, Mum’ for the first time was pure magic.
“Horseshoes and Handprints have given us hope and progress with their personalised unique family experience. I cannot recommend them enough.”
Lorraine Bolland, of Three Counties Business Network International, presented a £60 donation to Desi Fradgley, a trustee of Horseshoes and Handprints.
The BNI meets on Friday mornings at Monks Yard, Ilminster, to promote business networking and opportunities.
