Somerset's air ambulance back in the air
11:33am Monday 16th December 2013 in News
THE air ambulance across Somerset is back in the air after the helicopter were grounded last week following a crash in Glasgow which killed ten people.
After the crash in Scotland on November 29, investigations had found a technical fault on the EC 135 aircraft, the same model as the helicopter covering our region.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance were working with Bond Air Services to resolve the problem and found there was a fault with an indicator system for the fuel system, which was giving ‘spurious’ readings on fuel.
A spokesman confirmed on Sunday morning that their helicopters were fully operational again.
Following the incident, the service did say crews would be on hand with a rapid response vehicle in case of emergencies.
