IT WAS a step back in time for visitors to Dunster over the weekend.

The medieval village was packed out as hundreds of people gathered for the 27th Dunster by Candlelight.

Lanterns and candles lit up the streets with Dunster Castle providing a spectacular illuminating backdrop, adding to the magical medieval feel.

As well as plenty of late night shopping to enjoy, crowds were entertained by choirs, morris men, battle re-enactments and the traditional torchlight procession.

This was just a handful of what was on offer.

West Somerset Railway also ran special trains on Friday and Saturday (December 6 and 7) from Bishops Lydeard to Dunster and Minehead.
