UPDATE

Berry has been reunited with her owner.

Olive received a phonecall early this afternoon saying that Berry had been found wondering around North Petherton.

She picked her up and they have since returned home.

Mrs Towler said: "I am just so happy and so relieved to have her back, I really thought she was gone for good.

"Thank you so much to everyone for all of their help, I'm so grateful.

"It's been traumatic for both of us but I'm just glad she is back and safe."

A woman from Cannington has said she is 'utterly devastated' after discovering her dog had gone missing this morning.

Mrs Olive Towler, 81-years-old believes her Jack Russell, Berry was stolen at around 8am this morning from her bungalow.

She said: "The front door was shut but unlocked; I think someone might have opened the door and taken her.

"There was no way she could have got out, I was in another room and she was sat by the door, when I came out she had gone.

"The place feels empty without her, she is all I've got and I can't believe someone could be so cruel.

"Life won't be the same without her."

She has described Berry as being quite small and white with light brown patches and brown ears.

Olive, who lives on Lonsdale Road added: "She was a rescue dog and I got her on New Year's Day.

"She has been such a wonderful companion to me and has kept me walking.

"We go for walks around the village twice a day and everyone here knows her.

"She is so friendly; I don't know what to do with myself."

Berry was not wearing her collar at the time but Olive believes she may have been microchipped.
