IT’S beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Minehead.

Crowds turned out to watch the switching-on of the lights on Friday (November 29) complete with the Christmas tree in Wellington Square.

Local star Dionne Jones, who was picked as BBC Sport’s Unsung Hero of the Year for the South West, turned on the lights along with Minehead Mayor Val Welch.

Santa was on hand in his grotto to see if children had been naughty and nice and snowflakes fell from the snow machine giving a truly wintery feel.

Live music and carolling meant everyone was able to get in the festive mood and shops throughout the town had plenty of offers for shoppers.
