DISABLED users of Trinity pool will be benefiting from a new set of specially designed £700 chairs to make the facility more accessible.

The chairs, costing just over £700 each, were kindly funded by Somerset County Councillor Ann Bown through a ward fund she holds for health improvement, and Bridgwater Town Council.

Bridgwater Mayor Dave Loveridge said: “This is another example of the Town Council supporting facilities in the town which meet a particular need and one we are pleased to help with.”

Disabled swimmers said using their own wheelchairs between the accessible changing rooms and poolside was impractical, so Sedgemoor District Council has been working behind the scenes to ensure the pool has the very best range of accessible equipment.

Sedgemoor Chairman councillor Peter Downing said: “This state of the art community facility has placed a real emphasis on being accessible to all and this new equipment shows we continue to listen to our customers comments and concerns.

“I hope disabled users now find the pool an even better place to take a swim. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Cllr Bown and Bridgwater Town Council for working in partnership to ensure the very best equipment is available at Trinity.”
