A HARLEY Davidson motorbike engraved with details of every UK serviceman and woman who has died in the Afghanistan conflict will go on display at a military charity’s base in Somerset.

The bike, previously used by the British Army in Afghanistan, is named after Cpl Lee Scott, who died while serving with the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment in Helmand province in July, 2009.

Cpl Scott’s mother, Denise Harris, founded the charity Afghan Heroes, which runs the Somerset Retreat at Ashcott, where the commemorative bike will take pride of place in a memorial wall which is being assembled.

The bike, which has been on display at hundreds of shows and displays up and down the country since the charity was formed four years ago, has been specially engraved with the name, age and date of death of every UK serviceman and women lost in Afghanistan.

Denise said the wall would help commemorate the fallen and inspire their comrades as they put their lives back together at the Retreat.

She said: “As the centrepiece of our memorial wall the motorbike will provide a focal point for everything this charity represents, and the sacrifices these servicemen and women have made.”
