FIREFIGHTERS tackled a large barn fire into the early hours of this morning.

Crews from Taunton, Wiveliscombe and Taunton were called to the blaze at Nerrols Farm, in the Priorswood area of Taunton, at 9.55pm yesterday, Friday, November 8.

The five bay 40 metres by 20 metres barn contained hay and straw.

Firefighters were still on the scene well after midnight.

A telehandler was on the scene at 2.20am to create a fire break to contain the blaze in the barn area.

The incident was scaled down at 3am, although crews were dampening down at 5.39am and still maintaining a watching brief at 7.30am.
