UPDATED: Motorcyclist suffers broken leg after collision with ambulance in Taunton Road, Bridgwater
A SERIOUS collision which closed Taunton Road in Bridgwater for nearly three hours last night involved a motorcyclist and an ambulance, it has been confirmed.
The collision happened at the junction with Parkstone Avenue at around 10pm.
A police spokesman said the male motorcyclist suffered a broken leg and was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital.
The spokesman said the circumstances surrounding the collision were still unclear.
An ambulance service spokesman confirmed one of its vehicles was involved.
The spokesman said: "The incident is currently being investigated by police and we cannot comment further at this stage."
The spokesman did confirm the man, believed to have been in his late teens or early 20s, suffered leg injuries, adding: "He was attended to by those at the scene and crews from a second ambulance."
Firefighters were also involved, dealing with a fuel spill.
The road reopened just before 1am.
