A HEAVY vehicle technician from Martock has received worthy recognition at the UK Worker of the Year awards.

Wayne Timbrell just missed out on the top three after the audience voted at the gala awards finale in Reading, but was rewarded for his commitment and passion towards to his job.

He received a trophy, Suzuki GB goodies and £200 in workwear vouchers courtesy of Dickies Store.

Wayne, who has worked as an HV technician for the past 17 years, lends his expertise in supporting the many vehicle dealerships in the area by repairing lorries, trailers and coaches.

Wayne said: “It was without a doubt the biggest event of my career which ‘ll treasure forever.

“The other finalists were all of a very high standard and it was an honour to be a part of the final. I’m delighted to have got this far.”
