Opening date announced for Bridgwater Post Office...again
BRIDGWATER’S two-year battle for a permanent post office will officially come to an end next month.
Post Office bosses have announced the new Bridgwater Post Office will open at 27 Eastover on Wednesday, November 13, at 1pm.
The temporary cabin at Northgate, which customers have suffered using since 2011, will close at 5.30pm on November 12.
The Eastover store was originally due to open on September 11, but the opening was postponed after asbestos was discovered the week before. The asbestos has been removed and a Clean Air Certificate granted.
Post Office field change advisor, Matt Walls, said: “We would like to thank our customers for their continued support and patience following the further delay to the opening of the new branch at Eastover, which was due to circumstances beyond our control.
“We hope our customers like the new branch and continue their support in the future.”
Hundreds of people battling to see a permanent post office in a town centre location signed petitions as part of the Mercury’s ‘Time To Deliver’ campaign.
The new branch will have five serving positions, a mixture of two screened and two open plan counters, and will offer the full range of Post Office products and services. It will open for an extra five hours a week and include Saturday afternoons.
Opening hours will be Monday to Saturday 9am to 5.30pm.
