ARTY children in West Buckland are enjoying a splash of colour thanks to Wellington Carnival.
Angie Filler, of the carnival committee, presented the village's pre-school with art materials after toddlers and parents joined in last month's procession to collect money for charity.
Members of West Buckland Pre-School took part in the carnival for the first time and pocketed half of the money they collected on the night.
Libby Heaton-Jones, chair of the pre-school committee, said: “As a charity, we know how important fundraising is. So we were thrilled to be able to join in with Wellington Carnival by helping with the charity collection on the night.
“We had a wonderful evening and people watching from the side of the carnival route were very generous, filling up our collecting tins.”
In total, £68 was raised and Wellington Carnival Committee agreed to buy and donate art equipment rather than returning 50% of the money raised.
Libby added: “It was a very generous gift and the children will really benefit from having the lovely colourful art materials.”
