Chilton students get a spooky shock as pumpkins transform overnight
STUDENTS from Chilton Trinity School have been getting into the Hallowe’en spirit by carving their own ghoulish pumpkins.
They carved faces in the pumpkins that they had grown for six months on site at their school, ready to go in a scary pumpkin-making competition to be judged by all students.
But they got the shock of their lives when they arrived at school to find the faces on the pumpkins had changed shape overnight and disintegrated, due to mould.
SEN Teacher Mikiala Jones said: “We were shocked. We had spent six months growing the pumpkins from donated seeds and they had grown really well.
“We then carved out the faces but came in one morning to find the faces had changed. They were more scary than we planned.
“There was mould over and inside their mouths and some had completely sunk in on themselves. Thankfully we were able to salvage a few of them which we will show off proudly this week.”
