Robert Blake students learn how to handle ferrets and dragons
STUDENTS at Robert Blake Science College had a visit from some vets to help them learn about managing animals.
Vet Jim Hughes and his team from Blake Veterinary Practice visited some Year Ten and Year Eleven students to help them with their ‘Animal Handling’ skills as part of their Environmental and Land Based Science GCSE.
Head teacher Rob Gammon said: “Pupils learnt how to handle the animals correctly and check their weight. Students had a brilliant time and got to handle a variety of animals including ferrets and bearded dragons.”
“These hands-on experiences are all part of an attempt to bring learning to life for students at Robert Blake Science College and reinforce the school’s ‘Learning for Tomorrow’s World’ ethos.
“We are grateful to the staff from Blake Veterinary Practice who were able to make this experience possible.”
