Rockets Pre-school, Rockwell Green, judged 'outstanding' by Ofsted
CHILDREN at Rockets Pre-school are all smiles after their latest Ofsted inspection.
In fact, the little ones are so pleased with the governing body’s report they even spelled it out themselves...
If you hadn't guessed by the picture, the pre-school – based at Rockwell Green Primary School – was judged ‘outstanding’ for the second time following a recent inspection.
Supervisor Sandra Mackie said it shows how far the pre-school has come since its days of being based in the village hall.
She said: “We are all absolutely thrilled by the report. With the criteria changing and becoming more difficult, we weren’t sure how we would get on so we were shocked and delighted to be judged ‘outstanding.’
“It’s a great team here; this is not just me. We really are a team and I’m lucky to be with some great people and that’s why it works so well.”
The report - handed to parents this week - praises the quality of teaching, describing is as ‘excellent.’
It adds: “Staff are enthusiastic and passionate in their work which motivates all children to successfully engage in purposeful learning.”
Inspector Michelle Tuck also praised Sandra and her eight-strong team, saying they are ‘highly effective in driving improvement’ and ‘skilfully’ monitor children.
Ms Tuck also said youngsters ‘thrive’ because of the ‘nurturing environment where staff provide an extensive range of exciting and challenging learning experiences’.
However, to improve further she said the pre-school should provide further opportunities to develop an understanding of how to keep themselves safe, for example by involving them in daily premises checks.
Rockets registered in 2008 and operates from a classroom within Rockwell Green Primary School.
It has 43 children on the roll and supports children with special educational needs and children who speak English as an additional language.
