TODAY is not only Ilminster Carnival but also the day for Chard Children's Carnival, where judging is due to take place in the next hour or so.
Chard Carnival is next Saturday, October 12.
THE fun got under way last weekend with Ilminster Children's Carnival (see photograph below) and there have been a series of events in the run-up to today's big day, including the traditional quiz night and funfair.
ILMINSTER Carnival is ready to roll for another year.
The Carnival procession starts at 7.15pm on Saturday at Whitelackington Hill, before it heads down East Street, Silver Street, West Street and Station Road and finishes at Kings Road Tyres roundabout.
Roads close at 7pm.
Food and hot drinks will be available at the committee stall, which will be in the Market Square all evening.
Collectors will be required to pick up tins from the parish hall between 5pm and 6pm.
Car parking is available for the first time this year at the new doctors’ surgery in Canal Way in Ilminster for £3 a vehicle.
