SEVERAL jobs have been created following a major refurbishment at a Bridgwater pub.
The Malt Shovel, in Wembdon Road, has reopened after a £300,000 investment by owners, the Greene King brewery, which has seen a new kitchen and new furniture installed and the whole interior redecorated.
Manager Adam Caswell said: “They've done a really nice job of it.
“Before there were just a few staff but we now have 12, all from the local area.”
The pub is now far more focussed on food than it was before, with a new menu, but Adam said it would still maintain its traditional pub feel, with live music and plenty of opportunities for indoor sports teams.
The pub has a skittle alley, pool table and darts board, and any teams interested in making The Malt Shovel their home should call 01278-422496.
