Successful launch for North Petherton's New Residents' Association
AN organisation has formed which aims to represent two fast-growing communities.
There was a good turnout at the September launch meeting of the North Petherton New Residents’ Association, held at the town’s bowling club, and a committee has been formed.
Helen Phillips, who chairs the association, said many people who couldn’t make the launch meeting had sent messages of support.
She said: “I am very encouraged by the turnout, and the make-up of the committee.
“The next step is for the committee to consider and act on the residents' survey results and plan for our first public meeting as a constituted association in January.
“Our thanks go to the members of the community who formed a steering group and to Mayor Bill Revans and North Petherton Town Council, in particular councillors Karen Revans, Marion Denham and Ann Hodges, who supported and encouraged us in the formation of this group.
“This now gives the communities a focus and a voice and will not only allow us to express our concerns but also give a forum for new ideas and projects to benefit both Wilstock and Stockmoor.”
The committee also includes: Richard Doyle as treasurer, Louise Dennis as secretary, and John Buckland and John Williams as vice-chairs. Further members will be sought.
