Bicknoller sausagemaker picked as a "Hambassador"

A BICKNOLLER sausagemaker has been selected to become one of four official “Hambassadors” by farmer and TV presenter Jimmy Doherty.
Harriet Smith, who makes her own sausages at her “Sausagesmith” in Hackney, will be promoting Red Tractor pork and pig farmers.
The competition was launched in July and asked would-be Hambassadors to come up with creative ideas of how they would educate shoppers on what the Red Tractor logo means.
Harriet was appointed as an official “Hambassador” last month by Jimmy Doherty, famous for programmes such as Jimmy’s Food Factory.
She will be paid for her work in bacon, sausages and ham for an entire year.
Harriet said: “For someone who loves pork as much as me, this really is a dream job.
“I’m really excited about taking up my role as Hambassador and doing my part to help pig farmers. It’s been a real eyeopener to learn more and I can’t wait to get started.”
Already the recruits have been put through their paces on Jimmy’s farm in Suffolk, learning about the day-today role of being a Red Tractor farmer.
Jimmy Doherty added: “I know all too well the pressures that many fellow pig farmers are facing due to high feed prices and imported pork. That’s why I’ve recruited a team of Hambassadors on behalf of pig farmers.
“I’m delighted to be working with Harriet who has the passion for quality pork we were looking for.”
