WEST Somerset Council is warning people to beware of a bogus licensing enforcement officer.
A person recently visited a licensed premises while it was open to the public, claiming to be a licensing enforcement officer visiting as part of a national scheme.
He is described as 5ft 10ins tall, white, about 40 years old, slightly overweight and with a shaven head.
The council says no such national inspection scheme exists and any staff on inspection visits would carry formal ID.
Licensees should contact the police on the non-emergency number 101 and alert West Somerset Council council if they receive such a visit.
