Minehead sisters launch fun run to raise money for charity
3:00pm Sunday 15th September 2013 in News
The ‘Circle of Hope’ event will be held in Blenheim Gardens in Minehead on Sunday, September 29, between 1pm and 5pm.
Sisters Annette Bartlett and Louise Doolan and Solveiga Knight and Edita Neveraskaus – also sisters – have all seen immediate family members suffer from cancer.
Those taking part will be helping Macmillan Cancer Support and the St Francis Cancer Support Centre in Lithuania.
The centre is supported by Macmillan, and Solveiga and Edita have had family and friends cared for there.
Louise said: “Having cancer touch you or somebody close brings home the valuable emotional and practical support Macmillan gives to families and friends.”
The sisters are asking people of all ages to take part in one or more of the fun run categories held over a 500- metre route.
Categories include a single lap for toddlers, a three-legged run and a 2.5km race.
Local businesses, schools and community groups are being encouraged to enter teams of five to compete in a relay event.
Annette added: “All four of us are actively involved in the Minehead community and so weknow what wonderful people live here.
“We are sure many will want to take part in our fun run to show their appreciation and support for such worthwhile charities.”
Entry costs £2 and the sisters are asking all those taking part to raise as much additional sponsorship as possible.
Other entertainment during the day will include a bouncy castle, sumo suits and a lucky dip.
Everyone who takes part will receive a medal, and numerous prizes have been donated by local businesses.
To take part or find out more email email@example.com or call 07828- 115676. Alternatively, you can visit the Circle of Hope Facebook page.
