Come Dine With Me aired from Taunton
A SCUBA diver, estate agent, teacher and air hostess from Taunton will test their culinary skills on each other on TV tomorrow (September 10).
Channel 4’s Come Dine With Me will feature the county town on Tuesday as four contestants find out if they can stand the heat in the kitchen.
The lucky four who were picked for the show were: Dave Hallam, 49, from Bishop’s Hull, who works for the Brainwave charity and is also a qualified scuba diver; primary school teacher Louise Naum, from Taunton; estate agent Matt Potter, from Taunton; and air hostess Kaaren Kitching, who lives on the Quantocks.
The show sees contestants each host a dinner party for the others and then they each rate the host's performance with the winner scooping a £1,000 cash prize.
Tuesday’s show sees Dave entertain the guests with his African-themed night while sporting a Zulu warrior’s outfit, complete with hide shield and spear.
Dave told the County Gazette: “It was wicked and lots of fun.
“It was a week full of laughs and just really, really good.
“I was the one cracking all the jokes and having the mishaps but when it was my turn to cook it was very stressful and it didn’t go as smoothly as I wanted it to go.”
Kaaren experiments with some good honest country cuisine while Louise’s evening sees Czech-inspired food.
She said: “I just applied for a laugh because my friends dared me – it was really exciting.”
Matt told the County Gazette that practice made perfect when it came to his three-course meal.
He added: “I got stopped in the street and asked to go on the show.
“I really enjoyed it but it was quite stressful when you were cooking and really hot in thekitchen because of all the cameras and lights.”
The television crew filmed the programme in February and March this year and viewers will also be able to spot St James’ Pool among other venues across the town during the fourday show.
The show is being aired on Channel 4 on Tuesday from 5-6pm.
