FORMER star players from Aston Villa FC are expected to play at a charity match in Somerset to raise money for young people.
Malachi Specialist Family Support Services C.I.C has been working with schools to complete projects through the use of music, drama and dance to highlight tough issues in the home.
The charity, which was based in the Midlands but is now operating from Bridgwater and Taunton, has worked with Bridgwater Town FC and contacts at Aston Villa Old Stars to arrange a charity match in aid of Children's Hospice South West.
The match will take place on Sunday, September 15, at 2pm at Bridgwater Town FC.
Malachi spokesman Adrian Darby said: “It is fantastic that we have been able to get a game against the Old Stars.
“They have some famous names in their squad and it's a rare opportunity for people to turn out and see some football legends at such close quarters.”
Malachi's team will be made up of head teachers, fathers and Malachi staff. The Aston Villa Old Stars team consists of greats from Villa's past and is organised by the Aston Villa Former Players' Association.
A Villa spokesman said: “Players like Gordon Cowans, Tony Morley, Paul Merson and Nigel Spink regularly turn out for the matches and the players are all excited about a new season.”
Entry to the match will be priced at £2 (adults) and £1 (children) with an array of extra entertainment such as 'The Saints Samba Stars' from St John and St Francis School and Bridgwater College Academy Dance Company.
