Taunton Lloyds TSB bank robber jailed

AT Taunton crown court, Ed Boyce, defending, said Rashbrook had not committed a crime until his 20s when he was made redundant from his job.
He added: “He has struggled to find accommodation and had hoped he might gain a modest sum of money to put to one side so that eventually he could pay for some accommodation.
“It was only a matter of time before he was apprehended and there were other ways he could have gone about getting the money.”

HANDING out the two-and-a-half year prison sentence to Mr Rashbrook, Judge Graham Hume Jones said: “This is an attempted robbery committed in bizarre circumstances.
“You walked into a bank in the centre of Taunton in broad daylight and, with no disguise, carrying a machete – it caused a great deal of distress to people in the bank.”

JAMES Rashbrook has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison for attempting to rob the Lloyds TSB branch in Taunton town centre.

A MAN will appear in court today (September 4) charged with robbery in connection with an incident at Lloyds TSB bank in Taunton last month.
James Rashbrook, 32, of no fixed abode, will appear at Taunton Crown Court charged with possession of a bladed item and attempted robbery.
He appeared at Taunton Deane Magistrates’ Court on August 6, the day after the incident, but did not enter a plea during a brief hearing.
He was remanded in custody.
