Sedgemoor businesses urged to take on young people

THE SOMERSET Chamber of Commerce is stressing the importance of supporting Sedgemoor’s young people after a successful round of exam results.
As young people weigh up their options having received their GCSE and A-Level results this month, the Chamber wants local businesses to support young people in order to keep their valuable skills in the county.
Specialist engineering company Manuflex Ltd, based in Highbridge, has supported, encouraged and employed around 50 young people through apprenticeships, work experience and government sponsored schemes.
Managing director Ray Stewart said: “In our experience, engaging with young people is great for business. They bring fresh ideas, are enthusiastic, have current education disciplines and ask great questions.
“All of this adds value to the business as customers are encouraged to see that a business has a long term plan involving a wide range of ages.”
